The 74-year-old star is set to pay tribute to his "true and precious" friend, who died from a "traumatic head injury due to a fall" after possibly suffering a stroke at her holiday home in Spain on August 1, by singing his hit 'Faithful One' at the requiem mass at St Mary's Church, Woolton.

Comedian Jimmy Tarbuck, 75, will read a prayer for "our inspiration, our treasured friend" at the service, which has been organised by Cilla's three sons, Robert, 45, Ben, 41, and Jack, 35, and is expected to attract thousands of grieving fans to the city's streets.

British actor Christopher Biggins, 66, will give a reading and comedian Paul O'Grady, 60, will help to end the Catholic ceremony with a tribute of his own.

The former 'Blind Date' host's agent Nick Fiveash told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "This will be a difficult day but it will be a celebration of her life. The boys have put the funeral together with as much of Cilla's wishes and her choices as they can."

Following the funeral, the 72-year-old star will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Allerton Cemetery alongside her parents.
