Taylor Swift thinks that her music would be "more beige" if she hadn't suffered from "humiliation, embarrassment or devastation" through her life.

The singer's known for writing song about her famous exes including Harry Styles and Jake Gyllenhaal, and believes she wouldn't be as successful as she is now if she didn't write about personal heartbreak.

Speaking to ASOS magazine she explained: "The songs I've written about my moments of humiliation, embarrassment or devastation have gotten me the greatest sense of clarity.

"If my life had been turbulence free, no bumps in the road at all, maybe my music would be more beige, maybe the stadiums wouldn't be so full and the mantle would be a little more empty."

She also admitted that she has no trust for those who claim they have no regrets in life.

"I can't stand having regrets, but you're supposed to have them. Anybody who tells you they went through life without regret or error isn't telling you the truth and they shouldn't be trusted."
