Usher's son Usher Raymond V is recovering well in hospital after he nearly drowned in a swimming pool accident on Monday (05.08.13) and is expected to be released in a few days.

The 'More' hitmaker's five-year-old son Usher Raymond V was rushed to hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, on Monday (05.08.13) and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after he almost drowned in a swimming pool when his hand got stuck in a drain.

A source told gossip website TMZ.com that the little boy, who had to be given CPR, is showing miraculous signs of recovery despite still being in the ICU.

He is already sitting up in bed, eating, talking and laughing but won't be released for a few more days as doctors want to continue monitoring him following the serious accident.

The little boy was playing in the water with his father's aunt when he dove down to retrieve a toy that was lying in the drain.

His arm got stuck and the aunt and a maid were unable to free him.

Two men, who were working at the property, jumped into the pool to get him out and he was then rushed to hospital by an ambulance.

Usher's ex-wife Tameka Foster, who currently only has limited custodial rights of Usher Jr. and his brother Naviyd, four, hasn't left his bedside since the accident.

The former stylist, who split from 'The Voice' USA mentor in 2009, has filed court documents in a bid to regain primary custody of the boys, claiming their father is an absent parent and relies on other people to care for their sons.

Judge John Goger scheduled an emergency custody hearing for Friday (09.08.13) in Atlanta.

Tameka's 11-year-old son Kile, from a previous relationship, died last year after a Jet Ski accident.
