The roaring action centres around former Russian paratrooper Nick Cherenko (Lundgren); a family man trying to live a quiet life until his young family are brutally murdered by Russian gangsters.
Emigrating to the US, he works undiscovered as a mechanic, until a wealthy woman begs him to track down her kidnapped daughter.
Though initially reluctant, the woman aware of his past convinces him by revealing the identity of the kidnappers the same gangsters who killed his family over half a decade ago.
He boards the next plane to his homeland, with nothing but revenge on his mind.
Also starring Ben Cross (War Inc., Hero Wanted, JJ Abrams new Star Trek film), The Mechanik sees Lundgren step behind the camera once again for his second film as director (following The Defender).
