People's Choice Awards 2012 Tonight

The People's Choice Awards return again tonight (January 11th), footage from the red carpet can be seen all of the world as it will be streamed live on the People's Choice website.

The award ceremony and show have been running since 1975, and each year it is aired on US Channel CBS.

This year there have been an astonishing 43 categories, all of which the winners have been voted for by the public.

According to the People's Choice blog, confirmed guests at tonights show will include Robert Pattinson, Ewan McGregor, Cory Monteith, David Boreanaz, Liam Neeson, Ginnifer Goodwin, Sharon Osbourne, Liam Hemsworth, Alyson Hannigan, Elisha Cuthbert, Vanessa Hudgens and the stars of The Vampire Diaries, to name a few.

Performing during the ceremony will be Faith Hill and Demi Lovato. Katy Perry was scheduled to perform, but due to her and hubby Russell Brand parting ways just weeks ago, she pulled out last minute.

Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco is presenting the awards again this year after being such a hit after doing the same job last year. As well as presenting the awards Kaley is nominated for Favourite TV Comedy Actress, and The Big Bang Theory is nominated for Favourite Network TV Comedy, we'll find out tonight whether or not she leaves with an award in her hand or just a smile on her face for getting to host the event for a second time.

Other nominees include Bridesmaids, which is nominated for Favourite Movie, Favourite Ensemble Movie Cast and Favourite Comedy Movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is up against it in Favourite Movie and Favourite Ensemble Movie Cast, but also for Favourite Action Movie and Favourite Book Adaption, and some of the main stars are up for Favourite Movie Star Under 25.

Both Ryans Reynolds and Adele appear in four categories, while Lady Gaga manages five, but leader of the nomination pack for tonight is non-attendee Katy Perry, who racks up six nominations spanning from Favourite Music Video for Last Friday Night (TGIF), to Favourite TV Guest Star for her appearance in How I Met Your Mother to Favourite Animated Movie Voice for her role as Smurfette in The Smurs and of course Favourite Pop Artist.
