Charlie Sheen is in hospital after paramedics were spotted carrying the actor out of his home on a stretcher.

Emergency services were called to the troubled star's home early on Thursday (27Jan11) after he started experiencing severe abdominal pains.

TMZ.com reports Sheen left the home with a towel partially covering his face.

Two young women left the house minutes after Sheen was driven away in the back of an ambulance.

The actor's publicist, Stan Rosenfield, has confirmed his client has been admitted to Cedars-Sinai Hospital's emergency room. No further details have been released.

According to sources, Sheen's actor father Martin Sheen and his mother, Janet, dashed to the hospital to be with their son.

Reports suggest the hospital emergency came after a night of partying at Sheen's home.

The Wall Street star has been dogged by health woes and bad publicity in recent months - in October (10), he trashed a New York hotel room while an escort reportedly cowered naked in a bathroom, and he was subsequently hospitalised to treat an "adverse allergic reaction" to medication.

He was treated for an ear infection earlier this month (Jan11) and he also hit the headlines when a recent wild weekend in Las Vegas turned public.

Meanwhile, network executives behind his hit TV comedy Two and a Half Men have a revealed there's "high level of concern" about the actor's personal troubles.
