Eddie Izzard to move into politics

Eddie Izzard is planning to run for office so he can give the transgender community a voice in politics.
 
The cross-dressing comedian recently revealed he has a nine-year career plan which will culminate in either running for a position as a Member of Parliament (MP) or as London Mayor.
 
Izzard has now explained the reasons behind his planned career move, insisting he wants to help the transgender community by becoming a high-profile figurehead.
 
He tells Australia's Sydney Morning Herald: "I'm going into politics... It could be MP or mayor of London... It's most probably (going to be in) 2020. It's the only way as a transvestite... at this point with the transgender community still struggling to get into the mainstream, gay and lesbian communities are much further up the ladder there. If you're not planning (ahead) its not really going to happen."
