British R&B star Estelle was shocked by Kanye West's knowledge of English culture and slang references.

The pair worked on new track American Boy together, and the 27-year-old was impressed by the Stronger star's grasp of British colloquialisms - after he admitted he was familiar with the term for soccer star's wives and girlfriends, Wags.

She says, "We were in the studio when Kanye started rapping about Ribena, his favourite drink, and Wags.

I said to him, 'Do you even know what a Wag is?' And he said, 'Yeah, she's a gold digger.'"
