Escape from New York could hit cinema screen once more as director Len Wiseman is in talks to remake the cult classic.300 Actor Gerard Butler has already signed up to star in the update of director John Carpenter's futuristic action film as anti-hero Snake Plissken, a part made famous by Kurt Russell in the 1981 original and its 1996 sequel Escape From L.A.The action/science fiction movie is set in the future where Manhatten Island has been turned into a maximum security prison.Terrorists hi-jack Air Force One, when the President is aboard, and it crashes into the island. The President survives but is captured by the prisoners.New military prisoner "Snake" Plissken is offered a deal find the President and a cassette tape that contain nuclear technology and reciebe a full pardon.The film grossed over $50 million at the worldwide box office just over $25 million in the U.S Wiseman, who is married to Kate Beckinsale, is best known for directing the Underworld movies and has most recently directed this year's (07) Live Free Or Die Hard.
