Nancy Kerrigan

Nancy Kerrigan’s brother, Mark Kerrigan, is facing up to two-and-a-half years in jail after being convicted of assaulting his father.

Mark was arrested after his 70-year-old father Daniel was found to have died from cardiac dysrhythmia that was caused by a neck injury that occurred during a physical alteration shortly before he died.

Mark was faced with counts of manslaughter, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on an elderly person and causing serious bodily injury but pleaded not guilty to all.

After three days of deliberating, a Superior Court jury in Woburn cleared the 46-year-old for manslaughter but found him guilty of lesser charges on Wednesday.

Mark was alleged to have involved himself in a dispute with his father and punched him so hard that it triggered his heart failure.

Nancy condemned the jury’s ruling after the hearing by telling reporters, “My family has never believed that my brother had anything to do at all with my father’s death, and my dad never would have wanted any of this.”

Mark will be sentenced today.
