Mel Gibson has completed his community service after being charged with domestic violence earlier this year.

The star was accused of attacking ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva during a heated argument last year and struck a plea bargain with Los Angeles prosecutors in March of this year in order to stay out of jail.

The agreement saw Gibson sentenced to three years probation, ordered to undergo 52 weeks of counselling, to pay around $600 (£400) in fines and serve 16 hours of community service.

To complete his community service Gibson flew to Guatemala to work with Mending Kids International, the organisation of which is ex-wife Robyn is the former President of the Board of Directors.

Proof of the completed community service was given to Judge Stephanie Sautner yesterday and Gibson’s lawyer also told the Judge that Gibson had settled his fines.

TMZ.com reported that Gibson’s psychiatrist was pleased with his progress in weekly sessions and gave a glowing review of the star’s behaviour.
