Leo has a 'gutsy' story to tell.

Oscar winner Melissa Leo is writing her memoirs, promising a ‘moving and gutsy story’.

The Fighter actress has struck a deal with publishers at Simon & Schuster, with the autobiography available in stores in 2013.

The 50 year old, best known for her role as Det. Sgt. Kay Howard on American tv show Homicide: Life on the Street, gained her breakthrough role in the 2003 film 21 Grams.

The mother of one has since starred in a series of films and TV shows until gaining critical acclaim in The Fighter in 2010.

Prescilla Painton, Executive editor at Simon & Schuster, said: “Melissa has a moving and gutsy story to tell, with a very happy ending.  We look forward to making it possible for her to tell it.”
