Meyer Death Reports Are False

Stephenie Meyer became the newest celebrity on the long list that have been targeted by an online death hoax.

The culprits spread the rumour that the author had been found dead at her home in Utah on Tuesday.

The hoax then picked up speed as it hit social networking site Twitter but was quickly shot down by a statement released on her official website.

Meyer's rep wrote: "I just received a call from Stephenie and she wanted me to let everyone know that, contrary to some rumours that have recently started circulating, she is alive and well."

Stephenie short to fame after publishing the vampire romance series Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn which are currently being made into films.

The report is the latest in a series of online hoaxes which have seen - Zach Braff, George Clooney and Jeff Goldblum all falling victims of false death reports this year .
