Ringo Starr was part of an armed gang when he was growing up.The former Beatle, who earlier this month asked people to pray for peace and love throughout the world on his birthday, confesses that he and his friends used to carry razor blades to deliberately harm other people.He says, "I came from an area that was gang-based. Several of my friends would have razor blades sewn in to the back of the lapels of their jackets so if they were grabbed, it would be damaging for the other person".But Starr, who grew up in Liverpool, England, reveals his fellow Beatle band members weren't quite as streetwise as him. He adds, "I don't think they were (involved in gangs). They were wimps".
