The 82-year-old record producer - the mentor of Bobbi's mother Whitney Houston, who was found dead in a hotel in 2012 - has extended his "support and prayers" to Bobbi's family.

Speaking at Pre-Grammy Gala Press Day, Davis told People magazine: "I've been in touch with Pat Houston and the family, and certainly expressed by support and prayers for Bobbi Kristina."

He acknowledged that in light of Whitney's sudden death three years earlier, it is especially tough to see the family go through such heartache.

He said: "It's very painful and heartbreaking to see the family go through such pain again.

"They certainly encourage the prayers of everyone and ask that the public respect their privacy."

Bobbi, 21, is currently being cared for at a top hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, after she was found unresponsive in her bath at home last weekend.

Meanwhile, Bobbi's cousin, Jerod Brown, recently admitted Bobbi's doctors have no "hope for change" in her condition.

Jerod posted on Facebook: "Though it seems the odds are against her, though doctors don't see any hope for change, though we might want to play detective and find out how she got there, though it looks impossible for her to stand again STILL PRAY FOR BK. (sic)".
