Now the Olympics are over, and everyone resumes their normal lives, the Olympians who made it all happen are set to celebrate their success in style.

But the thing that many of them are looking most forward to is blowing their healthy diet regimes.

110-metre hurdler Dawn Harper from USA told Today.com that she can't wait to get back home to Illinois, as her family are making her an early Thanksgiving feast.

"This is really bad," the 28-year-old athlete said. "I told my family I want a Thanksgiving meal prepared, with all the fixings".

And gymnast John Orozco couldn't wait that long. He said: "I had pizza, chicken nuggets from McDonald’s, and I had a big cookie. That was it for me. After that my stomach was destroyed".

Jamie Gray, a gold medal shooter, admitted to treating himself to a steak as soon as he had collected his medal. He said: "'I went to the USA House and had a nice rare steak. It was awesome. They didn’t have it in the buffet so the chef made it and brought it out himself".
