Sadly we won't be seeing Megaman

The upcoming XBLA and PSN game Megaman Universe has been cancelled.

Capcom announced on its website that the platformer, first announced in 2010, would not be released due to “various” reasons.

The game was first announced in 2010, and described as a “revolutionary take on the seminal classic”. It was shown combining the classic 2D Megaman gameplay with a fresh, updated 3D look. It was also to feature level creation tools, customisable outfits, multiple retro Megaman designs and even appearances from other Capcom characters.

Megaman creator and formerly Capcom’s head of research and development, Kenji Inafune, had said: “This game will break the mold and challenge the conventional wisdom of what a Mega Man game can be. When fans finally get to see it, I believe they’ll envision their most far-out Mega Man dreams coming true.”

However Inafune left Capcom in October of last year.

It is not known why the title was cancelled or how far into development it had been.
