Dan - whose previous credits include 'Beasts of the Southern Wild' and 'Beasts of No Nation' - will write brand new material for the hotly-anticipated new video game.

Allied to his previous work on video games, Dan has also previously worked with musical artists, penning songs for the likes of A Great Big World and Shawn Mendes during his career.

It has been confirmed that the score will feature banjos, fiddles, and dobros, with each region within the game being handed a specific sound, according to GameSpot.com.

'Far Cry 5' will feature a storyline that will see a quasi-religious doomsday cult take over, and Dan's hymn-like lyrics "will "reflect the inspirations of the leadership and members of the cult while also hiding more sinister messages toward the Resistance. Each of these hymns will mix into the existing music that players experience as they explore the world or engage in combat."

The much-anticipated new game, featuring Dan's latest efforts, will launch in February across a number of computer consoles, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
