The technology giant has admitted it is studying a bug that could have rendered certain stats bonuses obsolete, with a community manager addressing the issue of "Fitness and Chemistry" on a 'FIFA 16' forum.

EA said: "Thanks to the FUT community for raising awareness of a potential fitness and chemistry inconsistency in some FUT items. After hearing this, our teams were in over the weekend and continue to thoroughly investigate the information. We will keep you informed with updates from the investigation.

"Our commitment to a fun, fair and secure experience in FIFA is ongoing, and as a community your feedback helps us achieve that goal. A special thanks for your continuous efforts across all channels."

The game mode is known as FUT, or Ultimate Team, and it allows the creation of squads using players from any league.

Gaming enthusiasts are able to access a mini-marketplace that exists for purchasing players using real-world currency.

The problem cited by fans refers specifically to players "in form" and yet their stats are not being subsequently adjusted in recognition of their performances.

EA, for its part, said it is looking into the problem and hopes to have corrected it as soon as possible.
