Sports Interactive gaffer Miles Jacobson has revealed the latest title in the popular football management sim has achieved the impressive milestone, and he thanked fans of the gaming franchise for their "continued support".

In a series of tweets, he wrote: "At circa 4am the millionth FM17 was activated. This is our 5th game in a row to sell 1m units. Thank you for your continued support!

"(note - our activated figures include removing "returns" & games played in the free weekend & didn't convert. Unlike other available data)

"Oh - and just found out that we're back up to no.1 in the UK boxed PC chart this week. Which is a very nice surprise! (sic)"

Despite admitting there are "massive" costs and stress involved in making the game, he still loves doing so.

In response to a fan who asked if he still enjoys the process "after all these years", he replied: "if I didn't enjoy it, I would still do it :)

"(but yes, the work, costs, stress etc are massive) (sic)"

A tweet on the official 'Football Manager' Twitter account recently confirmed the 2018 version of the game will drop on November 10th, and all three versions will be available on the same day.

'Football Manager 2018' is the main PC, Mac and Linux game, but there is also 'Football Manager Touch 2018' for PC, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android, and the handheld version, 'Football Manager Mobile 2018' for iOS and Android.

The tweet read: "The season has officially started. Yours begins on November 10th.

#FM18 is coming (sic)"
