Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment have just unveiled the first ever gameplay footage of A Plague Tale: Requiem, the highly-anticipated sequel to award-winning game A Plague Tale: Innocence, with a new trailer revealed during yesterday’s (December 9th, 2021) The Game Awards 2021.

A Plague Tale: Innocence was released in 2019, and was an instant hit with gamers. The action-adventure stealth game was set in 1349 in France, and the medieval setting was something that fans fell head over heels for, as well as the dark, eerie atmosphere that mixes in with the tragic narrative.

In the trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem, Robert Louis Stevenson’s titular poem sets the scene as fans catch a glimpse of Amicia and Hugo’s thrilling adventure to come, in a brutal yet stunning world that is plagued with supernatural forces beyond any human comprehension.

After brother and sister duo Amicia and Huo escape their ruined homeland, the pair head south to explore new regions and vibrant, new cities. The sequel will see players discover what it means to save those you love, and what sacrifices you are willing to make.

Lash out from the shadows or unleash hell in broad daylight as you overcome enemies and face challenges with a variety of self-crafted tool, along with exciting supernatural powers.

The footage from A Plague Tale: Requiem shows the lands that have been ravaged by fire and death, with Amicia and her young brother Hugo right in the middle of it. The siblings are seen wondering through ruined areas, seemingly becoming used to their world falling apart.

Additionally, the gameplay footage shows Amicia taking some out enemies silently, and using a crossbow to silence others. We also see more of the landscapes the game has to offer, which look beautifully made.

It seems that danger is only closing in on the main characters, and death knocks at their door. Can Amicia and Hugo make it out alive?

A Plague Tale: Requiem will release in 2022 on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and in Cloud Version on Nintendo Switch. The game will be available at launch with Xbox Game Pass for Console, PC and Cloud.
