Xbox 360 title 'Hitman: Absolution' is now available to play on Xbox One after being added to the list of backwards compatibility games.

The stealth shooter was originally released on the Microsoft console, PlayStation 3 and PC back in 2012, allowing players to take control of Agent 47 and go on a killing spree.

Now, 12 months after its developers IO Interactive announced it would bring the game to the Xbox One backwards compatible program, Microsoft's Larry Hyrb confirmed the release on Twitter, posting: "Hitman: Absolution is coming to Xbox One Backward Compatibility."

Published by Square Enix, it is the fifth instalment in the 'Hitman' series, and runs on IO Interactive's proprietary 'Glacier 2' game engine.

Gamers can wear the suit of the ultimate assassin in order to gain the ability to blend into plain sight, kill with their bare hands and fashion a weapon from almost anything - as Agent 47 - the world's deadliest assassin.

f you already own 'Hitman: Absolution', either digitally or on disc, you can play right away on your Xbox One or ot can be purchased from Marketplace.

Among the other titles recently added to the Xbox One backwards capability catalogue include 'Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures', 'Grand Theft Auto IV', 'Battlefield 3' and 'Ghostbusters: The Video Game'.
