The latest instalment of the LEGO franchise was only released in March, but developers at Traveller's Tales and TT Games - along with partners Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and The LEGO Group - have already released the first game's update.

The new content - which is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC consoles via Steam - expands the 'LEGO Worlds' universe with a brand new creative sandbox mode and adds highly requested game features, new themes and smoother user interface (UI).

The sandbox mode offers an immersive building experience where players can let their imaginations run wild with all of the game's tools, objects and bricks instantly available at their fingertips.

Upon choosing to play the customisable game, players will be asked to select the size of their world from four options, and also select which assets - called biomes - to be included in the world. Players can choose from a selection of Jungles, Forests, Mountains, Vehicles, Deserts, Characters and Creatures.

TT Games said of the update: "This mode will skip the Lego Worlds' tutorial worlds, so new players will want to try Adventure Mode first in order to fully understand the tools - and some of the rarest, harder to find creatures are locked until they're found in Adventure Mode."

Meanwhile, players have been told to keep an eye out for new models coming soon to the 'Brick Build Showcase', which is a selection of pre-defined structures that can be instantly built for no cost to the player.

The upcoming models will include new characters, creatures, vehicles, props and items from the 'Nexo Knight' and 'City Emergency' themes, with even more themes to follow.

Meanwhile, 'LEGO Worlds' also updated their UI to include a new menu system and removed a few prompts from within the game.
