Nintendo has announced the release date, specifications and full list of games for the NES Classic Edition.

Earlier this month, the Japanese gaming giant revealed it is launching a new miniature version of their classic Nintendo Entertainment System 8-bit console which was originally released in 1983 and revolutionised the home entertainment market.

Now Nintendo has confirmed the console will be available to buy from November 11 and will come pre-loaded with 30 classic games, including 'Donkey Kong', 'Mega Man II', 'The Legend of Zelda' 'Metroid' and 'Punch-Out' along with a classic controller.

A spokeswoman for Nintendo said: "The Nintendo Classic Mini: Nintendo Entertainment System comes packaged with an HDMI cable, a USB cable for powering the system, and one Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller.

"And whether it's rediscovering an old favourite or experiencing the joy of NES for the first time, the fantastic collection of NES classics included with each and every system should have something for all players."

The pre-installed games - which include the first three 'Super Mario Bros.' adventures - have been carefully selected to provide a mix of the most famous titles and cult classics.

The spokeswoman added: "The game line-up was chosen to provide a diverse mix of popular and recognisable NES games that appeal to a wide variety of players. Everyone should be able to find multiple games to enjoy."

In an effort to keep the experience authentically retro the device cannot connect to the Internet, but you can mix and match the controller with a Wii U machine.

The spokeswoman explained: "The console is a standalone device, so it cannot connect to the internet or any external storage devices.

"The Nintendo Classic Mini: NES Controller can also be used to play Virtual Console NES games on a Wii U, or Wii console. Simply connect it to a Wii Remote controller to make the experience that much more authentic."
