The 52-year-old executive has revealed that the upcoming console - which is slated for release in late 2020 - will ultimately represent a dramatic shift in the gaming industry.

Phil was asked on Twitter: "Hi @XboxP3. With the imminent arrival of the XSX, what technologies do you think allow this spectacular advance? We have been hearing about Raytracing for a few months and recently about photogrammetry. Would this be a new course? (sic)"

And in response, Phil said: "RT on console will be great. I'm very focused on the work we are doing around Dynamic Latency Input (DLI). In my view the feel of games this upcoming generation will change as dramatically as any since 2D to 3D given CPU upgrade, DLI, memory bandwidth and SSD. (sic)"

Previously, Phil previously said he is confident of a "winning" price plan for the Series X.

Microsoft's console chief shared: "I feel good about the price we're going to be able to get to.

"I feel good about the price and the performance capabilities that we have for Series X. I feel incredibly strong about the overall package."
