Fans of the iconic sci-fi series have long been looking for details of the third-person action game, and the website Making Star Wars has claimed to have been briefed on the basic plot of the game.

According to the rumours, the story will take place between 'A New Hope' and shortly before 'The Empire Strikes Back', with actor Todd Stashwick playing the part of a character called Dodger.

He hails from the planet of Alderaan, which the Empire destroyed in 'A New Hope' and he has, therefore, been put on the Empire's "survivors list".

As a result, the character is forced to exist in the criminal underworld of the galaxy, where he takes to working for iconic 'Star Wars' baddie Jabba the Hutt.

The website has also promised to release an additional update about Jabba the Hutt's role in the video game in due course.

Whether the report is true or not remains to be seen, but what is known for certain is that the long-awaited 'Star Wars' game is set to be released in 2018.
