The cutting-edge technology gives gaming enthusiasts the opportunity to face off against their digital adversaries in a more life-like way from the comfort of their own living rooms.

And those not lucky enough to own one of their gaming packages can now nab them at a bargain price.

The technology giants announced yesterday (28.08.17) that they will there PSVR set - which includes a PlayStation camera - will be on sale for just $59.

And the usual $499 set, complete with two Playstation Move controls and the 'PlayStation Worlds' gaming collection, which is now just $449.

Both will be available to purchase at the reduced prices from September 1.

Atsushi Morita, Sony's Japan and Asia president for computer entertainment says the VR experience is the "biggest invention" since TV.

He explained previously: "In terms of visual experience at home, we believe this is the biggest innovation since the emergence of television.

"It's like a time machine that allows you to go to any place and become anything that you want to be."

The latest launch costs less than PC-based headsets such as Facebook's Oculus Rift and HTC's Vive and have already proven to be hugely popular with gamers in Japan, who rushed out to get their hands on the PlayStation VR when it first went on sale in October.
