Ubisoft is a well-known company who produces games such as the Uncharted series of games, as well as the Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed games.

This news came on February 21st, 2022, on the day of the opening of the Ubisoft Developers Conference (UDC), where the company explained that La Forge will be in use in Canada, China, and also France.

The recent UDC conference, which is Ubisoft’s annual get-together that occurs for the purpose of discussing video games’ technological innovation, runs from February 21st to the 25th, and often focuses on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, two of the key research areas for La Forge.

The R&D model acts as a connection between academic research and the production of video games, and also mixes together Ubisoft’s data, assets, and the skills of university researchers in order to propel information forwards, while also solving real-life issues via scientific publications.

Yves Jacquier, Executive Director of Ubisoft La Forge, reflects on the five years’ worth of work and the expansion of La Forge by saying that "Our goal is to continue to grow while preserving our DNA: providing Ubisoft with in-depth knowledge on the disruptive technologies that empower our teams to deliver unique and immersive experiences, through responsible, people-centric development.”

Known to be based within Ubisoft Montreal, Canada, La Forge is moving fast in regard to the international implementation of a special collaboration model, which has become a leading reference for research and development in the industry.

La Forge has over 70 prototypes, 30 of these have already been into production tech, and 25 are major scientific publications; the model now stands behind many of the group’s technological R&D activities.

This allows for the creation of more realistic worlds within video games, it will also support game creators, and develop high-performance tools that will improve players’ experiences.
