As we're now officially in spring, it's time to de clutter your make-up bag and learn some new beauty tricks.

Today, we're looking at your eyes and what you can do to update them for the warmer weather, which includes being a bit more bold with your colour palette.

We were ruled by glitter and masses of eyeliner during the winter period, as we piled on the slap for glitzy night outs, office parties and casual cocktails with friends.

Well the good news is that you don't have to ditch the eyeliner for spring, merely learn a new way to apply it. We're loving the glossy smoke look sported on the catwalks at the minute, as it's seductive yet not too full-on.

It's difficult to master if you're not used to accurate applying, so for this beauty trend invest in some good quality products and get a big mirror handy!

You will be basically glossing over your eyeshadow with this look, and the slightest slip will be obvious, so start off by sweeping black eyeshadow over your top lids, wiping any excess off as you go.

Next, apply some gloss over your eyelids, using a brush to ensure even application. Any kind of clear gloss will do for this, even Vaseline will work, but if you do use a lip gloss, make sure it's not the plumping kind, or you may find your eyes on fire.

In terms of colour, it's all about green and purple this season, and what's more wearing them together. Peacock eyes are sooo last year, so embrace this new colour combo for spring.

Start off by applying a bold green colour to your upper eyelid, taking care to even it out up to your natural crease. Next, opt for a purple eyeliner as opposed to a shadow, as it will make application easier and more accurate.

Sweep the purple eyeliner onto your inner lid, carefully applying under your eyelid as you go, taking it right to the end and joining it with your green top lid.

Finally sweep a coating of black mascara on your top and lower lashes, ensuring that application is smooth and not too built up, as this will ruin the effect.
