Nicola Roberts

Nicola Roberts

We'll admit it, we've got a bit of a soft spot for Nicola Roberts.

The Girls Aloud stunner is often overlooked in the style stakes, but we think it's time that all changed- so Nicola you're officially awarded the status of beauty icon.

With four other gorgeous girls to compete with in a band, it's fair to say they've all got their own identities and champion their own look, but this wasn't always the case with Nicola.

In the beginning she slapped on the fake tan, dyed her hair and generally didn't make the most of her gorgeous features, preferring to look just like the rest of the band.

To be fair, it wasn't just Nicola who conformed, as in the early days Cheryl sported cornrows and bobs, Nadine wouldn't wear skirts, Sarah's hair was just ever changing and Kimberley tended to overdo it on the bronzer most of the time.

Thankfully, all the girls have now found their own look, although none are so unique as Nicola, who now champions her pretty porcelain skin and red hair with pride.

She even created her own range of make-up products, specifically for pale-skinned ladies called Dainty Doll, which has been flying off the shelves ever since its creation.

The reason we love Nicola so much is the fact that she does dare to be different, in a world now where pale skin is frowned upon, and if you aren't a bronzed beauty then you aren't considered pretty.

It's absolute rubbish of course, especially since the catwalks have also decided that this year is all about being pale too, and have ditched the tanned look for the summer altogether.

So all hail Nicola- our new beauty icon for this week!
