Scarlett Johansson has denied reports that she is crash dieting to keep up with skinny Hollywood stars.

The actress has previously told how proud she was of her curves but has been seen sporting a slimmer look more recently. Her weight loss has led to the media speculating the actress had began a strict diet and fitness regime after worrying she would lose roles to slimmer actresses.

She was even rumoured to have lost a stone after taking up co-star Gwyneth Paltrow's diet.

Scarlett insists her figure is a result of shaping up for her part of the Black Widow in the Iron Man sequel and not down to industry pressure.

Her spokesman told FemaleFirst: "The press is making something out of nothing. She is simply getting into shape for a very demanding, physical role in Iron Man 2."

Scarlett herself blogged about the rumours saying: "Claims have been made that I’ve been on a strict workout routine, eating sprouted grains I can’t pronounce and ultimately losing 14 pounds. Utter lunacy! If I were to lose 14 pounds, I’d have to part with both arms. And a foot.

"I’m someone who has always publicly advocated for a healthy body image and the idea that I have lost an impossible amount of weight by some sort of 'crash diet' or miracle workout is ludicrous."
