This time each year, thousands of women up and down the country are starting to panic. Looking in the mirror and wondering how to look good in that all-important bikini fills the vast majority of women with fear. Walking confidently onto a beach, around a pool or generally anywhere that requires the removal of clothing is not that easily done. So the diet starts now. Research begins for the miracle cure of cellulite and any unwanted flab that is still hanging around.

The Internet is full of various summer diets, from the South beach diet, which works on three phases with good carbs and good fats, to the Scarsdale diet that boasts a 13lb weight loss in just two weeks. However the one new weight loss plan that is getting the most attention is the Dukan diet, which claims to allow you to enjoy unlimited quantities of food but still keeps you slim.

Does that sound too good to be true? Well that remains to be seen, but millions of people in France apparently love this diet by Dr Pierre Dukan and swear by the power it has to achieve weight loss.

French nutritionist Dr Dukan introduced his diet in France ten years ago and is now said to be bringing it to the UK next month. Similar to other tried and tested programmes, the Dukan diet has four different phases that follow on from each other and concentrate on the dieter eating protein primarily and leaving out butter and oil from all foods, giving it’s difference between it and the Atkin’s diet.

While most other diets give you a dramatic weight loss quickly, it is normally just water weight which is lost instead of fat. Once the diet has ended, it is highly likely that all the weight lost will go straight back on again. However Dr Dukan makes a point of saying that his diet eases you back into eating normally, allowing dieters to eat what they want, as long as they have one day a week eating purely protein. He says that this way you are correcting any excess that may have occurred during the rest of the week.

While this diet may be clinically tested and help some people to achieve their goal weight, if it doesn’t work, resort back to the old advice. Get rid of that pesky Easter egg shaped stomach by exercising and cutting down on snacks and you’ll have that bikini body before you know it.
