What quick fixes have you used?

What quick fixes have you used?

We live in a world with plenty of quick fix products, and it seems we have succumbed to the use of them as well.

A new survey commissioned by IMEDEEN, reveals that more than half of British women find themselves buying the latest ‘quick fix’ beauty products, even though almost the same amount again don’t believe they will actually work.

Women want the results yet aren’t prepared to invest the time needed to make a difference.

Over half of the UK women questioned said that they fall for the hype and try something new just on the ‘off chance’ it will work for them with some spending up to £500 a year on ‘quick fix’ beauty products alone.

IMEDEEN UK Marketing Manager, Anne Toker says: “What we’re seeing is ‘quick fix’ beauty solutions coming onto the market and swiftly disappearing but only after women have parted with their money yet seen no benefit. Beauty is big business as women strive to look and feel as youthful as possible, and women need to invest carefully in brands backed by clinical studies in order to see results.

"There are no quick fix miracle products on the shelves but women can be savvier - choosing trusted brands with proven results.”

Although 48% see the value in using a brand that is backed up by years of clinical studies and 82% of UK women need to see visible results from a beauty product before becoming a loyal user, we’re not taking our own advice and putting this into practice by buying tried and tested products – proven by research.

Many women are impatient and want immediate results, only waiting up to a month to see a difference before giving up and trying something new.

Independent financial expert Jasmine Birtles comments: "We in the UK need to stop wasting money on what seem to be 'quick fix' beauty products which are really just well-packaged and highly-marketed potions that generally do very little. As with financial decisions, when we invest in our looks we need to take a long-term view, develop healthy, sensible habits and use simpler, more substantial products with a proven track record. Just as get-rich-quick 'solutions' usually make us poorer, so the promised quick beauty fixes can often fall apart further down the line, wasting our time and money."

With the beauty market swamped with new lotions and potions, we’re not the savvy shoppers we thought we were. After what was very nearly a triple dip recession, now’s the time to invest in proven products rather than ‘quick fix’ beauty solutions.
