Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung

After the Oscars and Golden Globes were something of a fashion triumph earlier this year, how would the stars fair at last night's Bafta Television awards?

Well, the answer is pretty darn well! Of course there were the usual idiots, who thought it would be clever to dress up in giant bow of tinfoil, but other than that we'd say they had it sussed on the night.

Alexa Chung has to get a special mention for dazzling in autumn/winter 09 Luella, complete with a cat bag, opaque tights and black patent platforms.

Despite reportedly hating her new bobbed hair do, we're quite big fans of Alexa's new style, especially the new honey coloured highlights she's sporting here.

We loved her hot pink lipstick and brown eyeshadow combo she debuted too, but if we had to criticise one thing, it's that her style can appear too laid back at times.

This is like the London version of the Academy Awards, and while she is the queen of quirky cool, we'd of loved to have seen her rock a ball gown or something here.

That said, rocking Luella is her speciality and considering she does prom with a twist like no other, we'd say that she and Alexa are a match made in designer heaven.

Onto our next style starlets of the night and we we're mega pleased that Skins got an award, not least because we got to see our two favourite characters get on stage.

Kaya Scodelario and Hannah Murray

Kaya Scodelario and Hannah Murray gave us a master class in how to wear sequins to an award show, and not look tacky. They also didn't fall into the trap of trying to dress older than they actually are, which is a refreshing change, we'll sure you'll agree.

So lets start off with Kaya, who was our One To Watch not so long ago, and clearly we were right to earmark her as fashionable, as her gold sequined flapper dress was stunning.

Paired with black opaque tights, black platforms and simple hair and make-up, Kaya let the dress do the talking, and if she hadn't of won an award for her acting, then we would have given her one for this dress.

Hannah too, who we really miss as Cassie on the show, came into her own fashion wise last night, in a gorgeous silver sequined top complete with feathered skirt.

She jazzed it up further in some oh so trendy grey tights and silver tap dancing shoes. We like people who take a risk, and Hannah could have so easily played it safe with boring accessories here, so for the fact that she did up the style ante, she gets some major fashion points from us.

So who else gets a thumbs up from the style police? Well, as much as we hate to admit it, Liz McClarnon looked stunning in her one shoulder nude coloured gown last night, although we're not entirely sure why she was there.

After all she'd attended nearly every film premiere last week, so we were surprised she even had a dress left in her wardrobe to show off!

Ed Westwick looked devilishly good in his tuxedo for the night- perhaps he's more like his Gossip Girl character, Chuck than we thought, especially when he put his arm around Michelle Ryan for a picture!

We loved her Valentino style red gown here, but she does tend to play it safe with this colour each time, so next time Michelle, try something different and you may be at the top of our best dressed list!
