Custo Barcelona have built up quite a reputation in the fashion world, particularly in America and Spain, but their fabulous fashion has yet to really make an impact on the UK- until now.
Last week, they joined forces with Corona Extra’s ‘Save the beach’ campaign to throw the ultimate beach party, showcasing their new summer line and getting Leonardo DiCaprio's girlfriend, Bar Refaeli to model them.
Here we sit down with Custo Dalmau to talk about his famous celeb clients, his plans for the label in the UK and just why he's so eco-orientated......
Hi there, how are you?
I'm good, very good and you?
Great thanks! So, have you been busy this morning?
Well, a little bit, but no not too much.
What have you been up to recently?
Er, I just arrived from Barcelona two weeks ago. I was in Moscow because we are trying to open a store there next summer.
Why did you decide to get involved with the Corona Save The Beach campaign?
Well, erm basically I am and always have been concerned about the planet and beaches are a big part of it of the planet and of course they are suffering also from environment, and I think I have to support the Save the Beach action from Corona.
Are you very Eco-friendly then?
Yes, of course I am very concerned about the environment.
Do you think Eco-fashion is the way forward?
I think Eco everything will be big. I think Eco is the right direction to go forward and not only fashion, but in the aspects of life.
Why did you decide to debut your collection to the UK at this particular event?
Well Corona, as part of the action of the save the beach campaign had organised the event. One in London, one in Berlin and one in Milan and part of the event is to do something related to the beach. And part of our collection is the collection of swimwear and well we thought it would be a great and amazing thing to present the collection, our proposal for life and for fun at the beach and we are presenting a runway show for men and women for all the swimwear collections.
What's your new summer collection inspired by?
Basically our collection has a very colourful aesthetic, there's a mix of colours of materials and basically it's about the proposal that we are doing tonight.
Bar Refaeli is modelling your collection tonight, is she your ideal model?
Well, yes she's one of the top models in the world today and of course, she will be one of the hottest proposals of the whole runway.
Do you have any celebrity fans of your line?
Well yes, in England I am not really aware but in the States we have Julia Roberts, Madonna, Drew Barrymore, Penelope Cruz.
Have you met any of them personally?
Well, I've met Penelope Cruz because we are both from Spain.
Would she be great to have her as your face of your campaign?
Well, we've never met with her, but why not in the future!?

The save the beach project is aimed at raising awareness of the importance of beach preservation with Corona committing to the restoration and maintenance of at least one beach a year, with the beach to be cleaned selected by public voting at their website.
