Mickey Rourke Sparks Jewellery Trend

Mickey Rourke has become an unlikely fashion icon after sparking a trend for pet themed jewellery.

The Wrestler star wore a necklace containing a picture of his Chihuahua Loki, who died two weeks ago, to the Oscars and the pendant has began a craze for similar items.

Mickey was sent the pendant by jeweller Betina Wassermann and she has since been inundated with requests for the pendants which have a silver back and glass covering the picture.

Betina told Bang Showbiz: "I lost my dog, Igor, four months ago, and I’m still crying myself to sleep. I need to see a psychiatrist. So when my colleague told me Loki died, I knew I had to make one for him. I knew how much he loved his dog and it was so horrible to lose her right before the Oscars."

She added: "When I saw it at the Oscars, I thought I was going to have a heart attack. That necklace got more press than frickin’ Fred Leighton million-dollar diamonds!"

Hmm we're not sure we'll be trying the look ourselves but full marks to Mickey for sticking with his unique casual style even at the most prestigious event of the year!
