Lea Michele looks beautiful in bright pink Elie Saab

The People's Choice Awards kicked off award season last night and there was plenty of beauties who took to the red carpet in the best selection of designer clothing.

One of the standout fashion trends of the evening was defintiely mini dresses, Lea Michele and Emma Watson were just two of the actresses who put their pins on show in bold, short pieces.

Lea Michele went for a head-to-pink look as she picked up an award for Favourite Comedic TV Actress.

The Elie Saab short-sleeve cocktail dress comes from the Spring 2012 Collection and she's had the dress shortened too. The embellished lace detailing on the dress is just beautiful - as we have come to expect from Elie Saab.

She styled the dress with a cute braided updo, pink Elie Saab sandals, and a stunning cocktail ring.

I love this fun and refreshing look.

Next up is Chloe Moretz.

The teenager can be very hit-and-miss on the red carpet, often picking pieces that are far too aging for her, but this was definitely not the case with her bright yellow Simone Rochas dress.

The Big Daisy dress from the Spring 2013 collection has also been worn by Alexa Chung in the black version, but I have to say that I much prefer this bright hue.

However, she paired the dress with a pair of very uninteresting black suede Casadei pumps and a black envelope clutch.

I do love her half-up half-down softly-curled hairstyle though and she looks genuinely happy to be on the red carpet.

Mae Whitman and Daneel Harris also chose mini dresses for the Awards.

And Jennifer Aniston stuck to her tried-and-tested method of Little Black Dress, this time a leather skater style was her choice.

Finally, Emma Watson also went for a bold mini dress, which like Lea she also had shortened from the look that was first presented.

The Harry Potter Actress picked up the award for Favourite Dramatic Movie Actress wearing a bold Peter Pilotto Spring 2013 ensemble.

The whole thing has a lot going on, but it's beautiful none-the-less. The embroidered top with cut-out details also has a satin peplum detail and it was paired with a colourful printed skirt with a solid black hemline.

She paired the look with some stunning Tbitha Simmons sandals and a sleek half-up, half-down hair do.

I love the bold pink pout too.

Overall, it was a great night for minidresses. What do you think?
