Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker has long been established as a fashion forward kind of woman, largely thanks to her fabulous wardrobe on Sex and The City and her hugely popular character, Carrie Bradshaw.

Carrie and her pals dominated the New York party and fashion scene for six glorious years, although it was Sarah Jessica Parker who stole the show style wise, with her unique and odd take on fashion.

The ladies all took part in plenty of fabulous frolics during the series, however the movie took it to the next level, embracing and experimenting with their new lives now they had hit forty, which included their fashion sense.

So which was better? Well in terms of style, we think SJP was far more coordinated in the movie, still embracing all that we love about her, but perhaps toning down the quirk, apart from the scene where she stuck a bird on her head of course.

During the six seasons that Sex and the City ran for, it was her emergence as a style icon that made SJP such a household name. She's become almost synonymous with her most famous creation, and this is by no means a bad thing.

From her dazzling fashion choices, which no other women could get away with, to her literary genius, going from one failure to another and then documenting it in order to pay her rent- genius!

She kick started the trend for featuring mature women on the television, and what's more glamorised fashion and New York to such an extent, that we all wanted to be her in her fabulous, and sometimes traumatic life.

Off screen SJP was just as popular with her style choices, perhaps not being as daring as Carrie, but all the same this is the woman who stepped out in a cobweb dress last week and carried it off superbly.

Her fabulous fascinator she wore to the premiere of Sex and The City: The Movie, back in May made fashion headlines around the world and was instantly hailed as a new trend. So much so in fact, that the trend for elaborate headwear has been forecasted as big news for next spring/summer too.

SJP is also like a breath of fresh air in terms of her attitude to cosmetic treatments, looking stunning at 43 without the aid of any help. Sure, she's got parts of her which she doesn't like, but like most women makes the most of what she has got- a stunning body, an amazing dress sense and a gorgeous mane of hair.

With the sequel due to begin filming next year, we wonder how she and costume designer, Patricia Field will be able to top the blue bird headdress or the amazing Vivienne Westwood wedding gown.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see, but until then we can rest assured that SJP will give us plenty of fashion thrills off screen, to keep us happy until the sequel hits our screen.
