Lauren Conrad has revealed the secret behind her famous side braid.

The Hills star is rarely seen without a single plait down one side of her hair and she has now admitted it is due to a dodgy haircut rather than an intentional style quirk.

"I've gone a little overkill with the braid," she admitted to pop sugar. "I cut my own bangs, so I have to braid it back a lot. I have weird Girl, Interrupted bangs going on."

So it seems even celebrities cut their own fringe when they can't be bothered to go to the hairdressers.
