Easter is coming, which basically means three things – chocolate, church and those endless rounds of visiting relatives. Usually it’s the children who are pulled into their Easter Sunday best outfits to visit Granny, but this year, what can Grannies themselves do to look their best?

Dr. Sue Holdstock medical director of leading Nottingham cosmetic clinic, Park Clinic, and the Midlands Regional Chairman of the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors, offers some top tips on how people can look after their skin to shine at all those Easter gatherings.

Says Dr. Holdstock:

Preparing for Easter’s social calendar, like preparing for Christmas can be stressful, which can have its effect on skin – so relax a little more and enjoy the preparations.

Smoking, excessive alcohol, fad dieting, dehydration and lack of sleep will all age your skin, so remember – everything in moderation in the run up to and during Easter.

Professional skin scanning enables you to have your own skin prescription made up. Using antioxidants, retinols and sunscreens, your skin can look better after just weeks and you can reverse sun damage, which can even occur at this time of year.

Microdermabrasion and mild peels can be used on all skin types and will give everyone a fabulous glow.

Most people over 35 will benefit from a combination of botox and fillers to improve lines.

It’s also worth remembering that it’s best not to binge on milk chocolate this Easter and opt for purer dark chocolate, which is much better for skin, as it is rich in antioxidants and less fatty.
