America's Next Top Model is attempting to revolutionise the modelling industry by using smaller women in it's next series, Digital Spy reports.

The show will use only models under 5'7" for the first time in it's 13 seasons.

Host and former model Tyra Banks told Digital Spy: "There have been top supermodels in the past that weren't as tall as the industry demands, like fashion icon Kate Moss.

"So we are changing up Top Model for cycle 13 and making it a year for the shorter model!"

The winner of the series will earn a place at Elite Model Management, a spread in Seventeen magazine and a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics.

The average height of a runway model is from 5'9" to 5'11".
