At the Bank of England it seems style stops for no-one, not even a recession, as employees have been issued a dress code, WWD reports.
Despite been in the midst of a financial crisis the BoE has some specific ideas on how employees should be presenting themselves. A leaked memo advises: "Look professional, not fashionable; be careful with perfume; always wear a heel of some sort - maximum 2 inches; always wear some sort of makeup - even if itâs just lipstick."
It adds that shoes and skirts should be the same colour.
Fashion 'don'ts' include ankle chains - "professional, but not the one you want to be associated with;" white high heels; overstuffed handbags; an overload of rings, and double-pierced ears.
It's no wonder interest rates are all over the place if the Bank is distracting itself by compiling fashion laws. Leave that to us ey!
