Donna Karan has revealed she is scrapping using fur in her collections.

The news comes as the designer has faced two years of pressure and protesting from Animal Rights Activists, PETA.

Karan has found herself a constant target of the group, who have in the past interrupted her catwalk shows and protested at events where she was in attendance.

She has also managed to find herself the victim of anti-Karan advertisements, which were plastered all over New York in an attempt to stop her showing fur in her collections.

Following the hate campaign against the designer, which last week culminated in the organisation setting up a website that dubbed her the 'bunny butcher', she has now vowed to stop using fur in her designs.

The fashion house said in a statement: "There is no fur in any of our lines for Fall 2009, and we currently have no plans to use fur."

PETA senior vice president Dan Mathews, commented in response to this: "Because Donna Karan has dropped fur, PeTA will drop plans to target her upcoming runway shows. This is a win for the real fashion victims, animals, who are routinely skinned alive for their pelts."

Mathews also added that with Karan now pledging to do away with fur, PETA now plan to focus on other fashion houses including Armani, but will also be looking out for Karan's 2010 collection too.
