Fashion may become the latest victim of the global climate change according to reports the seasonal collections could become a thing of the past.

Indusrty experts have been predicting that the unreliable and varied weather could mean that seasons play a less important part in the clothes that we buy and they the whole structure of the release of designs could be forced to change.

Reatiler in the US are already taking steps to consider climate change in their business with some turning to climatologists for advice on what to sell and when.

British and European fashion reatilers are also aware of the issue and many are making serious plans to cope with the changes that could shake up the whole industry.

"The whole fashion system will have to change," said Beppe Modenese, the founder of Milan Fashion Week to the Telegraph, " There is no strong difference between summer and winter any more".

"You can't have everyone showing four times a year to present the same thing. People are not prepared to invest in these clothes that, from one season to the other, use the same fabrics at the same weight," he added fearing the impact the changing climate will have on the world's most famous fashion weeks.

An unseasonal summer with record levels of rainfall meant high street stores suffered from poor sales which they are hoping ti make up as they release their winter stock. Already October is warmer than normal and with predictions of another warm winter fashion lovers are filling their wardrobes with discount summer stock from the sales.

"This is not good news at all," said Richard Perks, retail analyst at Mintel.

"What retailers want right now is a nice cold snap. Hot weather makes matters worse and it comes against a background of a downward trend."
