Julia Restoin Roitfeld

When your mother is one of the most fearsome editors in the fashion world, it can sometimes be hard to be taken seriously for your own talent.

So, spare a thought for poor Julia Restoin Roitfeld, whose mother, Carine Roitfeld edits French Vogue and is arguably a lot more fearsome than any Devil Wears Prada character.

Julia may have it tough living in her mum's shadow, but she is also privy to other fashion privileges normal girls just wouldn't get; fashion campaigns, lucrative modelling contracts and invaluable industry contacts, for example.

However, such privilege comes at a cost, as Julia revealed in an interview with The Times over the weekend; apparently the poor girl isn't allowed to wear flat shoes around her demanding mother.

"My mum told me always to wear heels. If I'm not wearing heels, she says, 'What? You're in flats?' So whenever I see her, I make sure I have heels with me."

Anyone who thought Anna Wintour was fierce clearly hasn't met this lady, but that said, her pushiness seems to have paid off, as Julia has just been announced as the art director of Pop magazine.

Julia unsurprisingly describes both her parents as "very pushy," and recalls to the newspaper that when she was in her teens her mother "would force me to do internships at different magazines in the holidays."

Poor girl, our heart really does go out to her...
