Lily Cole

As in any industry it's important to look through the process from beginning to end to make sure we are not producing in ways detrimental to the world

The former model turned actress Lily Cole is combining her passion for the environment with her model background - she's pleaded with fashion bosses to go green.

Star of hit movie St. Trinians, Cole has made a stand during an ethical fashion show at Cambridge University in the U.K., where she is studying History of Art.

Cole passionately gave a speach about the importance of the fashion industry using fair trade and organic materials - and begged designers to be aware of the way their clothes are made.

She says, "As in any industry it's important to look through the process from beginning to end to make sure we are not producing in ways detrimental to the world.

"As these labels show, producing clothes with a conscientious awareness of the global impact they cause is by no means impossible or limiting."
