Stephanie Seymour is "gravely concerned for her and her children's safety" as her divorce becomes increasingly acrimonious.

The 39-year-old model - who is in the process of splitting from publisher Peter Brant, with who she has three children, but still lives on the same estate as him - was allegedly shoved into a door by one of Peter's bodyguards last Thursday (04.06.09), according to America's Greenwich Time newspaper.

The situation has escalated to a point where Ms. Seymour is gravely concerned for her and her children's safety

Stephanie's lawyer Mark Sherman told America's The Stamford Advocate newspaper: "The situation has escalated to a point where Ms. Seymour is gravely concerned for her and her children's safety. Divorces are tense for any family - however, the scare and surveillance tactics going on here are dangerous and flagrantly criminal."

Calling security measures Peter has taken on the house "overkill", Mark added: "What's next? Bodyguards for his bodyguards?"
Police were called to the Greenwich, Connecticut property - where Stephanie is living in a guest house - after the model's assistant heard "banging and screaming" coming from inside.

It is alleged bodyguard Joseph Babnik tried to prevent Stephanie from entering the main section of the house. He was charged with disorderly conduct.

Later the same evening, police again attended the property when Stephanie began arguing with another guard.
Peter's spokesman said Howard J. Rubenstein: "Peter Brant was 3,000 miles away in Europe at the time of this incident. He knew nothing about it and was not involved in any way."

It is not the first time police have been called to the property.

Last month, they investigated when a car's windscreen was broken using a baseball bat. Stephanie has also complained her estranged husband has been trying to track where she goes in her car.

Lieutenant Richard Cochran said: "She came to us to make a complaint that the GPS was placed on her car."
Rubenstein has denied Peter placed the Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment on the car.

Stephanie and Peter stated their 14-year marriage had "broken down irretrievably" when they filed for divorce last March.
In court papers, Stephanie has accused Peter of "threatening behaviour" and asked for him to be removed from their home.

Peter has asked for a court order to make Stephanie be tested for drugs and alcohol.
