Vivienne Westwood giving her manifesto

Vivienne Westwood giving her manifesto

Vivienne Westwood stepped away from fashion for one evening to give her cultural manifesto, Active Resistance to Propaganda which is contained within her Vivienne Westwood Opus.

She took to the stage in a black and white knitted dress with thigh high slit, killer heels and plastic specs, while she read her concerns for the planet.

She took the role as narrator while actors took the roles of everyone from Alice in Wonderland, to Pinocchio to Hitler.

Different areas were discussed including the importance of art in the modern world and climate change. Vivienne said: "There is hardly anyone left now who believes in a better world. What is the future of unlimited profit in a finite world?"

The manifesto is included in The Vivienne Westwood Opus, which was created last year to celebrate Vivienne's time as a fashion icon. The designer said of it: "One of the great things about doing fashion and having the credibility of my track record as an avant-garde designer of clothes is that somehow it has helped to give me a voice which I try to use and I'm really grateful for having this opportunity."
