The 37-year-old singer, who partnered with her friend and costume designer Nicola Atkinson, has admitted her first clothing line featuring nine outfits for Little Black Dress is to encourage women to feel "great and confident" in the affordable dresses, and will see £1 from every dress be donated to the domestic violence charity Refuge.

Speaking to The Daily Star newspaper about her new venture into the fashion industry, the brunette beauty said: "I would say my collection is sexy and playful. I really wanted to create some dresses that made women feel fabulous. It's about introducing a little glamour, being bold, having fun and making a statement. I want women to feel great and confident in the dresses.

"It's designed to appeal to women who want to treat themselves for that special occasion without breaking the bank.

"The collection covers dresses that are figure-hugging and sexy, short and fun, and styles which transition from day into evening."

Mother-of-one Alesha - who has two-year-old daughter Azura with her partner Azuka Ononye - drew inspiration from designer brands she has adorned, and her own knowledge of what women want to wear to suit their frame.

The 'Britain's Got Talent' judge explained: "I've learnt so much about fashion over the years and I've taken inspiration from the people I've met. Nicola is absolutely incredible and brilliant at what she does, and I've been inspired by so many designers I've worn over the years.

"And the shapes have come from knowing what to wear and what flatters different shapes for women."

Alesha's Little Black Dress collection, which features cut-out dresses, floral mid-length frocks and bodycon designs in black and neon colours, is available from Thursday (28.04.16).
