The 32-year-old model-and-presenter has revealed that her earliest memory of the British high street store - with whom she is launching a new collection with next month - is shopping there with her mother Gillian and getting measured to find perfect-fitting sports-styled underwear.

Speaking to Stylist magazine about her experience, the Contributing Editor for British Vogue said: "I got my first bra there obviously.

"There wasn't much to measure thought so we started in the crop top department.

"Then I remember at secondary school girls started wearing actual bras, and you could see them through their shirts and I thought, 'Oh my god, I've got to catch-up.' "

Alexa, who made her breakthrough at 16 years old when she was signed to the STORM modelling agency, accepts she is under pressure to look stylish every single time she steps out because of her work but she doesn't worry about other people's opinions of her clothes.

She explained: "There's pressure to put something together but I get it wrong all the time. If you live in New York in the winter there's no getting it right."

Alexa has partnered with M&S for her Archive by Alexa womenswear line, which has resurrected 31 pieces from the brand's entire range spanning from the forties to the noughties, and will be available from April 13.

Speaking to Vogue.co.uk about the forthcoming collection, she said: "I have always had an affection for Marks & Spencer. I am thrilled to be part of this special and unique project.

"There was something very touching about looking back through the British fashion and social history for which M&S is synonymous."
